He teaches Japanese at a Kunming university and arrived with a clear idea: an AI review system for the Japanese major level-eight examination used by his existing students.
During the workshop, founder Anderson challenged the target market. High-school Japanese has grown because many students can achieve stronger entrance-exam results than with English. That creates a larger, more urgent, and more willing-to-pay audience than a specialist university exam.
The teacher changed direction before spending time building the wrong product—a small wording change that fundamentally altered the commercial opportunity.
The resulting system generates adjustable listening, grammar, reading, and writing exercises; creates personalized review plans from each student’s weak areas; schedules vocabulary revision around forgetting patterns; and covers every written exam format.
The system is complete and moving toward market testing. There is no revenue claim yet; the meaningful result at this stage is a validated direction and a working product ready for real users.
AI tools can help anyone build. The harder question is what to build, for whom, and why that market is worth serving. Strategic direction remains more valuable than execution speed alone.
